Day Out With Thomas

Thomas the Tank Engine, with his friends including Sir Topham Hat, the Fat Controller, will be visiting Butterley during 2010.

Come and see Thomas who will be here on the following dates:-

Thomas the Tank Engine

Saturday March 6th and Sunday March 7th
Saturday May 29th to Wednesday June 2nd
Wednesday August 4th to Sunday August 8th
Monday December 27th to Friday December 31st

You can just turn up on the day but if you want to book your tickets in advance you can do so.

The prices are £13.50 for adults and £6.75 for children aged 2 to 18. Under 2s travel free.

With 'Gift Aid' donations the prices are £15.00 and £7.50 respectively.

Days Out with Thomas - Special Tea Trains

On the following days there will be a special tea train hauled by Thomas

Saturday March 6th
Saturday August 7th
Thursday December 30th

These trains must be booked in advance.
The prices are £16.00 for adults and £10.00 for children aged 2 to 16. Under 2s travel free.

Thomas at Butterley

A Day out with Thomas at the Midland Railway - Butterley includes:
  • Unlimited short rides between Butterley and Hammersmith starting at 10.30 a.m.
  • The Imagination Station with Balloon Modellers, DVD Shows, Thomas Play Train Table, Colouring Activity, Temporary Tattoos.
  • Free Train Roundabout for children
  • Model Railway featuring Thomas and many of his friends
  • Give Thomas a Drink - an Interactive Show
  • Stickers and Junior Engineer Certificates will be given away.
  • Sing-a-long with Thomas and the Fat Controller
  • Souvenir Shop and Buffet
  • Troublesome Trucks
  • Spot Thomas' Friends competition
Thomas and Diesel will be hauling the train between Butterley and Hammersmith during the day. You are free to ride on this train as often as you like

Or you could travel on Daisy the Diesel Railcar (first train 10.20 a.m.) to Swanwick where you can look round our museum site with all its attractions

  • The Exhibition and Museum Hall
  • West Shed Experience with the Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust
  • The Country Park with its exciting country walks
  • The Golden Valley Light Railway (extra fare needed here)
  • Road Transport Museum

Not all the above facilities will be available during December.

There is plenty of free parking at Butterley and local buses from Mansfield and Derby pass the entrance.
